Artist: Thousand Foot Krutch
Album Name: Welcome To The Masquerade
Label: Tooth and Nail Records
Comments: Thousand Foot Krutch releases Welcome to the Masquerade on September 8th, 2009 from Tooth and Nail Records. The album is ‘large’ in every way, from the sheer number of tracks to the heavy hitting sounds. Like past albums, TFK gives their fans a bunch of anthem songs while mixing in some great slower songs that reach out to the hurting.
The title track ‘Welcome to the Masquerade’ gets started fast and is one of the better songs on the album. It sets the tone well. Fire It Up is the first of some great hard rockin’ songs. It should be a popular one for fans. Forward Motion has already made a big splash on the radio waves. Other notable songs include Smack Down, The Part That Hurts The Most and E for Extinction. Bottom line is that there is a lot to love on the album.
One thing you will notice is that the entire album has this masquerade theme to it. In talking about it with CMSpin.com, Trevor McNevan stated the following: “This record is very much about the masks that we all wear at times and places in our lives. It’s just saying, welcome to the masquerade. It’s ok, we’re all imperfect, nobody is perfect and God loves us for who we are and where we are.” You can check out the full interview with Trevor here.
I’d like to point out another part of Thousand Foot Krutch’s new release that goes beyond the music. The presentation on Welcome to the Masquerade is fantastic. The new web site is something you should check out, the cover art and activity the band makes on social networks is top notch. And you will hear TFK’s new music all over the place, from EA’s NHL 2010 to NFL games.
Fans of TFK will not be disappointed with the new album. In my opinion, it’s some of the band's very best work.
Summary: Welcome to the Masquerade takes TFK’s hard rocking anthem songs to a completely new level. If you loved past efforts like “Rawkfist” and “Move”, you won’t be able to sit still for this new album. It’s clearly one of the very best albums of the year, hands down.
