Mariposa Ave: April Sixth

When these talented musicians from diverse backgrounds united, an aggressive blend of sound and presence began. April Sixth is a fusion of melodic guitar chords, heart felt lyrics, and an explosive rhythm section. The dynamic and energetic delivery of their live performance leaves the witness yearning for more.
April Sixth is comprised of Robert Geiser on lead guitar, Brian Marquez on rhythm guitar, Evan Kilbourne on drums, Joey Caligiuri on bass, and Christopher Wade' lead vocals. Forged in a barn on Mariposa Avenue, Robert, Brian and Christopher Wade honed their technique by a strict practice regiment. It was not until a year later that they found Joey, a fellow musician and faithful fan. Shortly after with the addition of Evan, the former drummer of Save Ferris, their fate was sealed and their journey commenced.
The band was confronted with a world of hard work ahead which they gladly accepted. It started with writing new music and playing live shows consistently in California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah. Promotion was no stranger to these willing artists. They would play a show, then immediately give attention back to their would-be fans by way of free CD demos, stickers, buttons, or maybe just a kind word of appreciation. It was not until six months later that this hard work would finally pay off. Dan Estrin, guitarist for Hoobastank, passed a CD along to Howard Benson of Elektra Records, who is known for producing such bands as P.O.D., Blindside, and Adema to name a few. Benson, feeling the maturity of the lyrics, the sound, and the emotionally driven live show was impressed by their progress as a young band and knew a contract would be necessary.
With a whirlwind of tour dates and future recording all in the works, April Sixth is more that just a band of talented musicians. They come from humble beginnings with honest intentions. They are diligent about the evolution of their music and are conscientious about their fans, new and old. Whether playing to a sold out crowd or to a handful of kids at a local venue, April Sixth takes the stage to perform as it if were their last chance to impact and change someone's life.
Influences: Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Silverchair, Switchfoot, Rage Against The Machine, Fuel, The Used, and Thrice.

April Sixth has a hard driving sound melodic sound with a dynamic and powerful rhythm section. What they lack in polish they certainly make up for with youthful energy. Although the few songs on the demo have a tendency to sound alike, at least it is a good sound.

The lyrics are somewhat ambiguous and raw but not without bright moments like from “Somewhere Waiting”

He's the one who built His Kingdom
Not a soul was meant to die.
But you will be the one to say, "You're waiting for His Son to rise."
When the day arrives for righteous, He'll take away the filth.
And you'll join then in the suffering, long tonight!

April Sixth has a message to deliver and the sound to deliver it. As time goes on, the sound gets more creative and the lyrics get crisper, April Sixth should be a favorite.
